Events

A steady weekly rhythm, not a conference calendar.

Everything here is recurring and free to drop into. Exact times for each session are posted in the server, so people across time zones can plan around them.

The weekly programme

MonWeekly

Week-ahead thread

#quantum-news

What to watch in the coming week: preprints on the calendar, vendor events, earnings and policy deadlines. Written, asynchronous, no attendance required.

WedWeekly

Paper of the week

Voice + #paper-of-the-week

One preprint, read together out loud. Someone walks through the method, everyone argues about the claims, and a written summary lands in the channel afterwards.

FriWeekly

Open co-working room

Voice

A quiet voice room for coursework, Qiskit debugging or thesis writing. Cameras off, questions welcome.

Monthly

AMA with a researcher or founder

Voice + #announcements

Questions are collected in advance so the hour goes to answers rather than introductions. Announced in the server before each session.

How the reading club runs

  • Candidate papers are nominated in the channel; the most-voted one wins.
  • A volunteer presents for roughly fifteen minutes — slides optional, whiteboard fine.
  • The rest of the hour is questions, objections and context.
  • A written summary and the open questions are posted for anyone who missed it.

If you want to present

  • You do not need to be the author, or an expert — reading it carefully is enough.
  • Say so in the channel and pick a week that suits you.
  • First-time presenters get a second person on the call to help field questions.
  • Undergraduates present as often as postdocs; that is deliberate.
